MDS — Orthodontics & Dentofacial Orthopaedics

Postgraduate specialisation in orthodontics, with a thesis on the activated-charcoal orthodontic toothbrush and plaque removal.
2nd RankBDS · MDS (Orthodontics)
I am an orthodontist — I straighten teeth and guide jaw growth, so bites work properly, faces stay balanced and smiles last. I did my BDS at Seema Dental College, Rishikesh, and my MDS in Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopaedics at Inderprastha Dental College, Ghaziabad, where I later taught as Assistant Professor. My work is in fixed and aligner therapy and digital orthodontics.
Photography is a keen interest I take seriously, studied in depth alongside orthodontics. In colour, I photograph nature and macro in close detail — spiders, petals, birds, light on water — and people and portraits. In black and white, a different realm — mountains, streets, macro, and portraits stripped back to light and form. Both train the eye to read proportion, symmetry and facial aesthetics, in a portrait or a smile.
Dentistry and Orthodontics

I am an orthodontist trained in India, holding a BDS from Seema Dental College, Rishikesh (2018) and an MDS in Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopaedics from Inderprastha Dental College, Ghaziabad (2024), where I graduated with the 2nd rank in my speciality.
After my MDS, I joined the faculty at Inderprastha Dental College — first as a Tutor, then as Assistant Professor of Orthodontics — teaching and treating alongside clinical practice as an associate dentist in Delhi. My clinical work centres on fixed mechanotherapy and aligner therapy, planned and delivered with digital orthodontics, 3D imaging and CAD/CAM tools.
Alongside practice, I write and research: six publications in all — a book on orthognathic surgery, a book chapter on the surgical correction of common dentofacial deformities, and four journal articles. My MDS thesis examined how an activated-charcoal orthodontic toothbrush affects plaque removal during orthodontic treatment, and was published as a randomised cross-over study.
Outside dentistry, my interests are photography and art — drawing, cooking and keeping things well organised.

Short, plain answers about orthodontic assessment and treatment.
Your teeth, bite and facial profile are examined, and records are taken — photographs, a digital scan or impressions, and X-rays where needed. A cephalometric tracing relates the teeth to the jaws and face, and the findings are used to explain whether treatment is advised, what it would involve, and what happens if you wait.
The American Association of Orthodontists recommends a first orthodontic check-up no later than age 7. A check-up at that age does not mean treatment starts — most children are simply kept under review while the jaws and teeth develop, so that the few problems best treated early are not missed.
Fixed braces are attached to the teeth and work continuously, which makes them the more predictable choice for complex movements and for patients who would struggle to wear aligners as directed. Clear aligners are removable and discreet, but they only work while they are worn — around 20–22 hours a day — and are not suitable for every case. The honest answer depends on your bite, the movements needed, and how the appliance fits your daily life.
Teeth keep a tendency to move back, so treatment finishes with retainers rather than with the last adjustment. Retainers may be removable, fixed behind the teeth, or both, and they need to be worn and reviewed as advised — retention is part of the treatment, not an optional extra.
